SB-CEUs
State Board-Continuing Education Units (SB-CEUs) are State Board approved in-service, workshop, training, or conference credits that are used for the renewal of selected certificates issued by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). SB-CEUs are calculated by dividing the total number of contact or instructional hours by the number 10. Thus, an eight (8) hour session would be eligible to receive eight tenths (.8) of an SB-CEU.
MAME is an approved SB-CEU sponsor, and offers SB-CEUs for the following:
• The annual MAME conference held in the fall of each year. The
2009 conference will be held at the Grand Traverse Resort in
Acme, MI - October 21 - 23, 2009.
Note: The minimum number of SB-CEUs that can be granted for a conference is .5, so always make sure that you attend at least five hours of workshops/presentations at the conference to qualify for SB-CEUs.
• The MAME Leadership Workshop held in early spring. The 2009
workshop will be held March 6 – 7, 2009.
• The MAME Summer Institute 2009 will be held July 7, 2009
(tentative).
More information about the annual conference and the workshops can be found at the MAME web site.

SB-CEU Record Keeping (maintain your file of Certificates of Completion):
Both the approved SB-CEU sponsor and the individual are responsible for record keeping. The sponsors are required to collect and maintain records of all eligible participants who request SB-CEU credit. The MAME SB-CEU coordinator will issue the certificates of completion at the conclusion of the workshops and will mail the certificates of completion after the annual conference. Participants are responsible for maintaining certificates of completion for all SB-CEU programs for which credit was granted. If a certificate of completion is lost, the program sponsor can be contacted for a duplicate copy of the SB-CEU transcript. Please send this request in writing to the MAME Executive Director.
