This committee receives the award nomination forms, and then presents their recommendations to the MAME Board for approval. They are available at the individual entries listed below. The MAME Board has approved the following award categories:

The Ruby Brown Award for Individual Excellence
The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence in an individual who has helped promote and integrate the use of library media in the curriculum and to encourage local level awareness of the importance of media within the curriculum.

The Pat Slocum Award for Outstanding Meritorious Service to MAME
The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding participation and leadership in the activities of MAME and to the profession of library media service.

Margaret Grazier Service Award for Contribution to the Profession
The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who has made sustained contributions to the general principles of media in education and to state and local media organizations.

School Library/Media Program of the Year
The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence in schools and personnel for providing library media programs in elementary and/or secondary schools.

Service Award for School Administrators
The purpose of this award is to recognize the responsible influence, support, and commitment by a school district's administrator(s) in the implementing of a successful school library media center program.

Media Specialist/Teacher Collaboration Award
PURPOSE: To recognize exemplary collaboration between school library media specialist(s) and teacher(s) in implementing effective information literacy instruction.
CRITERIA: Awarded to a media specialist or team of media specialists who are MAME members and who work collaboratively with a teacher or group of teachers to create a curriculum-related program, unit or event that incorporates media center resources, the research process, reading advocacy, literacy support and/or technology integration.
1. Briefly describe the curriculum-related program, unit or event.
2. Describe in detail the collaborative process, including end result.
3. Provide supportive documentation, such as student work, assessments or end products.
MAME Mentor Award
Purpose: The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who has provided sustained and exemplary guidance, support and inspiration to colleagues in the library media profession.
Criteria: Awarded to an individual who epitomizes the traits of an enthusiastic and effective mentor and role model, and who has been an advocate for the library media profession. Additionally, nominees must be retired (or retiring within the current year), must have spent a minimum of ten years in the library media profession, and should demonstrate sustained and active membership in MAME.
1. Describe/document how this individual has provided support and guidance to colleagues.
2. Describe/document how this person has acted as an inspiration to colleagues.
3. Document this individual’s career history, including retirement date.
4. Document this individual’s involvement with MAME

Service Award for Boards of Education
The purpose of this award is to recognize the responsible and influential role of Boards of Education in developing successful school library media center programs.

Service Award for School Library Media Specialist of the Year
The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual in the library media field who exhibits personal leadership in fulfilling the roles of teacher, information specialist and instructional consultant, who shows professional involvement in the library media field and who implements a personal philosophy of information technology utilization to provide a quality library media program to students and teachers.

Service Award for Adult Volunteers
The purpose of this award is to recognize an adult volunteer who has made sustained and/or outstanding contributions to a library media center program.

The purpose of this award is to recognize a school district library media director who provides exemplary leadership and direction to an overall district program.

Government Official
(Formerly Support Award for a State Official)
The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual government official at the local, state or national level who has demonstrated a major commitment to the advancement of library media services, as shown by the advocacy, support, or introduction of legislation or initiatives that promote library media programs.

Mary Ann Paulin Award for Reading Advocacy
The purpose of this award is to acknowledge exemplary leadership and advocacy in instilling a life-long love of reading in children and young adults.

The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual or group for making a significant contribution in helping the public understand the role of school library media programs.
