MAME 38/Library 2.0 Virtual Conference Collaboration

November 3, 2011

At MAME 38, we are excited to introduce a new dimension to the in-person
conference experience. The Library 2.0 Virtual Conference overlaps with MAME
38 on November 3. The Library 2.0 Virtual Conference is a unique chance to
participate in a global conversation on the current and future state of
libraries. Library 2.0 is an online community for librarians interested in
collaborative technology and meaningful learning through digital
participation.

Library 2.011 (as the 2011 virtual conference is known) will bring together
librarians from around the world and we are excited to report that MAME
participants will be able to join in this international discussion while at
MAME! There will be a room set up for you to bring your laptop or mobile
device, log in and participate in the Library 2.011 Worldwide Virtual
Conference. We will stream sessions (specific sessions TBD in October)
throughout the day on November 3.

Subject strands will include:

   - changing roles of libraries and librarians
   - increasing impact of digital media and the e-book revolution
   - open educational resources
   - digital literacy
   - shifts from information consumption to production (Web 2.0)
   - multimedia and gaming spaces
   - libraries as community centers
   - growth of individualized and self-paced learning
   - the library as the center of new learning models
   - understanding users in the digital age
   - assessing service delivery
   - defining leadership and information professional careers in a networked
   and changing world

Not only is this an excellent opportunity to connect with colleagues
worldwide, but it is also an opportunity to engage in a virtual conference
through Blackboard Elluminate. There will be MAME members in the room, to
assist you with the particulars of Blackboard Elluminate and the virtual
conference experience.  So even if you’ve never participated in a virtual
conference before, this is your chance!

In order to prepare for the event, go to http://www.library20.com,
join the group, and join the conversation!
